Food

How is your food made?

Our dishes are handmade in small batches from our central kitchen by our chefs who use carefully sourced, high quality ingredients.

Each meal has been made with love, as if you were making a family meal at home. We put a lot of love and care into our dishes and believe this comes through in the taste of each meal.

Once our dishes are made we freeze them immediately, naturally preserving the nutrients and locking in all the flavours. We never add any MSG, additives or preservatives to our food.

Do you add additives or preservatives?

Absolutely not! As a company we don’t use additives in any of our food, however, small traces may be found in a few of the normal household kitchen ingredients that are used in a few of our dishes.

Who makes the delicious food?

Shary (aka ‘Dad’) who is exec. chef, Michelin star rated and has nearly 40 years experience. Along with Shary we have a small dedicated team who lovingly hand make your dishes from our central kitchen.

Is your meat halal?

Yes, our meat is halal.

Where can I find the allergen information?

You can find the full list of ingredients used to cook each dish with the allergens listed in bold by heading to our menu and clicking on the photo of the dish you’re interested in. You'll also be able to find this information on the back of the dish sleeves themselves.

Our products are produced in a kitchen that handles nuts, peanuts, sesame and allergens. Despite our best efforts, traces may be present.

If you need any assistance, please contact us on hello@modernpersiankitchen.co.uk.

Is the food already cooked?

Yes. All of our dishes are completely cooked, so if you’d rather defrost them first, you can, it’s up to you, but we recommend you cook from frozen. If you do wish to defrost your meals, just remember to shorten the heating instructions as on the belly band the instructions are from frozen. If defrosted keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours.

How do I heat my dishes?

You can use a microwave or oven to heat your meals.

All of our dishes are fully cooked through before freezing, therefore only need heating up.

Dishes can be cooked directly from frozen, there's no need to defrost them first. All cooking instructions can be found on the back of the pack.

Is your food healthy?

Your families wellbeing is at the core of what we do – we’ve developed a menu that ensures our food is not only delicious, but makes meal times healthier.

Shary has used his experience in the healthy food market to develop a menu that not only tastes great, but avoids some of the traditional cooking methods (such as frying), to create a more balanced meal. What’s more, most of our dishes are dairy free, gluten free, low in fat, salts and refined sugar. This makes our dishes great for children and elders also. Hurrah!

How long does the food last?

Our food will last up to 6 months in the freezer, giving you extra flexibility and reducing any unnecessary food waste, making it better for the enviroment.

Is Persian food spicy?

In short no. We use a wide range of herbs and spices in our dishes, but in regards to heat, our food is very mild yet flavoursome. So don’t worry, there will be no tears (unless they are happy tears!) when eating our dishes.

Who do you cater for?

Everyone! As our food is tasty and aromatic, but not spicy, it is aimed for all ages. Some of our dishes have been carefully designed for vegans, plant based eaters, vegetarians, gluten and dairy intolerances also.

Do you make meals for vegetarians, vegans and plant based eaters?

We do! You can search our menu using the filters and categories set out in the main navigation.

Furthermore we encourage non-veggies to eat these dishes or include a few in their order. Eating less meat is better for the planet as well as your health. We’re expanding our veggie, vegan and plant based ranges, sign up to our newsletter to hear about new dishes coming soon.

What prep is involved?

Our healthy and delicious meals require little to no prep. Simply pop them, from frozen, in the microwave or oven and heat through until piping hot.

Are the dried limes edible?

Totally, however they are very sour and not for the faint hearted. Some eat them, some discard them. We prefer to squeeze the delicious juice between a fork and spoon and then mix it into the stew. Dried limes are yummy and full of vitamin C and minerals.

Is your food ok to eat food one day after the use by date?

We advise that the customer uses their own discretion in this situation.

Is it ok to eat a ready meal left out overnight?

We would not advise consuming meals that have been left out overnight. All dishes should be stored in the fridge or freezer and heated up accordingly.

Packaging

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes! In today’s world we believe it’s important to do our bit to try and minimise our global footprint… we actually put back our launch date, so we could get the correct packaging.

We have worked hard behind the scenes to produce products, leaflets and packaging that are not only recyclable, but biodegradable - while trying to reduce any single use plastic items in our deliveries.

We use eco friendly companies such as Woolcool, our print materials and belly bands use vegetable based inks and water based coatings are and our containers are fully biodegradable.

Read more about our journey to eco friendly packaging over on the blog.

What’s the insulation in my box?

Our Woolcool insulation liners are 100% sustainable and the wool is fully biodegradable and compostable. The plastic is MDPE which is recycled at most local recycling centres, just check your council website to see. This can also be upcycled and used for insulation in your home, used as a cool bag for picnics, transformed into a wine cooler… or even as a dog bed – whatever takes your fancy.

General

What are the best frozen and healthy dinners?

Ours! Our dishes are based on hearty flavour combinations and are full of nutritional goodness for everyone to enjoy. Each meal is loving handmade by our small team, minimising the use of frying fats and gluten, to create a more balanced dish without compromising on flavour. What’s more, most of our dishes are dairy free, gluten free, low in fat, salts and refined sugar.

Will I enjoy it?

We really hope so – our food has been made with care, thought and lots of love.

Can I order for a party?

Absolutely, we can provide our dishes for large parties. If you would like food for a private party, please contact hello@modernpersiankitchen.co.uk

Can I send your food as a gift?

Yes! Not only do we have gift bundles for new parents, birthdays and new home owners, but we also have care packages for loved ones. Each comes with a gift card where you can include a message to the recipient.

If you would prefer to create your own package you can also add on a gift note card to any order.

Furthermore, we have gift vouchers available also.

How clean is your kitchen

Spotless!! We have a 5* health and hygiene rating and take great pride in the organisation and cleanliness in our kitchen.

Why do you freeze the meals?

Frozen food locks in the nutritional goodness naturally, and actually keeps your food fresher than meals you’ll find in supermarket fridges, which degrade as every hour passes. Our dishes are packaged and frozen at their peak freshness, meaning you always get the best quality possible.

That means we can hand-cook every meal, just like you would at home, without needing to add anything you wouldn't find in your own kitchen i.e nasty preservatives or additives.

Delivering frozen food also means you’ll always have hand-cooked, comforting and nutritious meals ready to heat up and eat in an instant. What’s more, you can store our dishes for months in your freezer.

Furthermore, food waste is a huge problem. In the UK it is estimated that families throw away £700 worth of food yearly. We tackle food waste by freezing our food. Better for your pockets, better for our planet.

What are the best food delivery services in the UK?

No bias, but we believe our frozen delivery service is one of the best on offer in the UK. Try for yourself and let us know what you think!

Do you work with trade or stockists?

Yes. If you are interested, please get in touch with us at hello@modernpersiankitchen.co.uk to arrange a chat and private tasting meeting.

I'm sending my order as a gift, will the invoice be including in the delivery box?
